Tales from Travels to the Daintree Rainforest in tropical north Queensland, Australia

Carl Portman, tarantula expert from the West Midlands travels to Queensland with two Sheilas in search of spiders and adventure. He finds both in this engaging and oddly heartwarming book. A must for anyone interested in the natural world. A glorious mix of arachnology and adventure, with a smattering of silly humour. Not to be missed!

Port Douglas Daily Blog, to Tweet or not to Tweet…

Written by Guy Besley, Latitude Travel Services, Port Douglas,

Good morning all, its another corker of a day, so don’t forget to slip,  slop, slap and all of that stuff.. Just because it feels a little cooler than the sweltering summer months, make no mistake, the sun burns!

Anyway, “to tweet or not to tweet” whats that about? Well Port Douglas specifically is very fortunate in that it has many people out there tweeting and promoting our great region (For nothing in return) A responsibility that comes with Tweeting, or any Social Media for that matter, is HONESTY and INTEGRITY!

So why do I say this, well it has come to my attention that there maybe someone out there suggesting to others to stop tweeting because they don’t like the content that is being tweeted about (business related) Unfortunately I cant NAME AND SHAME, as you all know I would love to, but I did promise, but I will say to that person who I know will see my blogs “pull your head out and lift your game!” We are all in this together. I for one am so damn sick and tired of greed taking over Port Douglas, yes, its built on by desperation, but its no excuse!

I know my dream of us all working together as a unified brand will never work, but lets at least leave others to do there bit without criticism; because their social media content may not appeal to your greed!

OK, whinge over :-) Do you think I got my point across.

Till tomorrow,
