Daintree Tragedy, another one bites the dust.

Goodbye Daintree-Eco Lodge;

Another blow to Australian Tourism has occured this morning.

Well it just goes to show, it doesn’t matter how well you do it, if the crowds wont spend money nothing will keep you afloat.

Tragically the world renowned Daintree Eco Lodge has been put into receivership, certainly not being the first sacrifice of the tourism downturn over the last 5 years, and certainly not the last!

Its sad to see such a unique product, named the world’s best eco spa in the World Travel Awards only last year, has had to go by the wayside. But that’s the state of play in Australian tourism, simple.

Hopefully a buyer will be found and the Daintree eco Lodge will go on, but there certainly isn’t investment in tourism assets in Australia at this point in time. Maybe the Government need to look at Tax breaks, staff incentives, and genuine opportunities for business to survive. but then again, who am I kidding, we are capitalist after all, and we only care about our own hip pocket! (yes a little tongue in cheek).

Sad to see this happen.. :-(

I thought I would share this little story as I know most of you don’t even think about it for domestic travel, and the really tight ones don’t even think about it for international travel, yet they expect the supplier of products and services along the way to wear the bill.

As I am packing my bag for the trip with Team Latitude down to Tasmania I remembered I didn’t have travel insurance, yes I always take it! Especially as I am hiring a car. Anyway I jumped onto our website and purchased travel insurance. Do you want to guess how much it cost? $37.00, yep, only 37 bucks! For piece of mind, if you don’t think that’s good value then ill be.,…. And to make life easier it was all automatic and then I instantly received an SMS with the policy details. Done in 30 seconds!

Now off for a stress free trip to the Coles Bay Half triathlon with the Team Latitude guys! Looking forward to it!
