Christmas in the Tropics

I know, sounds like an odd idea, go to the Tropics to spend Christmas; well lets be honest, those of you in Melbourne are probably going to cop a 40 degree say anyway, and those in Sydney wont be much different, so we are all used to a stinkin hot Christmas day anyway, so why not embrace it head on.

Christmas in Port Douglas has a lot of appeal, mainly of course, you get to avoid the people that “you must catch up with” on Christmas day. and don’t really want to (we all have them), but also you can get out of town, and escape the hustle and bustle of a busy Christmas period and totally unwind.

The general view is that Cairns and Port Douglas is just too damn hot that time of year, well yes it is hot, but that’s the beauty of it, but don’t forget the tropics is catered for the heat, there is air conditioning absolutely everywhere and a million ways to cool off both externally and of course internally :-)

Not to mention you get really good deals over Christmas, bookings for accommodation are always a little slow over the peak Christmas period so there are always great last minute deals and offers in Port Douglas to be had. Try looking on our site www.cairnsportdouglas.org for some great Wotif last minute specials.

Don’t forget, the heat isn’t that bad when you are on holiday, there is nothing more pleasant than a balmy evening in the tropics over summer, it just has a completely different feel to a hot day down South, especially sipping on a Mai Tai, Pina Colada or a cleaning Corona….

There are also many great tours that can help keep you cool, you can do  river dift snorkel with Back Country Bliss, a float down the Behana Gorge with Aussie Drifterz, a trip up to Kuranda via the skyrail or even a full day in the Daintree Rainforest with Billy Tea Safaris. Then of course there is a day out on the Great Barrier Reef aboard Quicksilver (as just one example). But the options are endless on ways to keep cool during a hot tropical summers day in Cairns and Port Douglas.

So get booking now, swing by our website, and find yourself a great last minute package to Far North Queensland for your Christmas Holidays.

And also I had better mention the many great options for New Years Eve in the Tropics, but that’s for another blog post.
