Written by Guy Besley, Latitude Travel Services,Its now only a matter of weeks before the Total Solar Eclipse hits Port Douglas in the Far North of Australia. Have a look at our Facebook page for an interactive map showing the path of the eclipse and what to expect depending on what location you will be in, and yes, you will see the eclipse in Melbourne, but certainly not to the extent of totality.
Port Douglas has been abuzz for a long time ahead of this amazing phenomena. The eclipse is also topped off with the Great Barrier Reef adventure marathon, which has been years in the planning and is a great event to hit the now ”Fitness Mad” Port Douglas.
The good news is that contrary to popular belief there is actually quite a lot of accommodation available for the eclipse. Many accommodation operators got it very wrong and became quite greedy (good news for you), thus leaving plenty of rooms still available at great rates. So it is not to late to get up there and witness this great event.
Port Douglas will also play host to Port Douglas Eclipse Festival, so there really is something for everyone.
Any accommodation enquiries make sure you contact us, like I said, there is still a far bit of accommodation around town. So whats your excuse.
Oh, and by the way, one of the best times of year to head to the tropics in November; its warming up, the air has the smell of the tropics, and the winds have usually died down. It really doesnt get much better.
