The Great Barrier Reef

Busy day today as we head back to Port Douglas for a day on The Great Barrier Reef!

If you haven’t been before this is a must do and if you have, try a different boat, you will have a whole different experience.  You can choose to go to Low Isles or to the outer reef and the choices are many.  You can choose from the Jet Sprinter to a private charter and everything in between, sailing or motor, ½ day or full, or even a sunset cruise.

We chose to go to Low isles as we are a little time poor.  The day commences with the trip out relaxing in the sun, don’t forget the sunscreen!  There is shade if you prefer.  Once there you are in the safe hands of the crew who are only too happy to help.  You can snorkel on your own or participate with a guide to learn about the reef.  A camera is a must too; the colours

and beauty of the Great Barrier Reef are amazing. You will swim with the reef fish, turtles and other marine creatures….. The Great Barrier Reef is simply a wonder of the world.

Our afternoon adventure was to explore Mossman Gorge, another amazing wonder of the region.  Mossman Gorge is particularly good when the weather is warm.  The water is cool, there is lots of shade and a board walk.  There is a few to enter, the money raised goes back to the local people of the land and is being used to fund medical equipment for the region.

Tonight is our last night in Port Douglas; all good things must come to an end. We are heading out to Zinc Restaurant in Macrossan Street for our last dinner, reliable, consistent, good value and I think Zinc restaurant has the best Espresso Martini in Port Douglas.

We will be doing some last minute activities tomorrow so I will be back to tell you more.

Until then……
