A word from Glen
Hi, my name is Glenn and I’d like to tell you what an afternoon on my Kuranda & Cairns Tour entails.
Leaving at 11am means you can enjoy a morning on the beach, a visit to the Rainforest Habitat, go shopping or just have a long lie-in before I pick you up from your accommodation anywhere in Port Douglas. A late departure means we miss the queues and with a maximum of only 12 guests you’ll be guaranteed personal service.
Our first stop is at the multi-award winning Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Enjoy a spectacular journey to Kuranda over some of the oldest Rainforest on earth and with 2 stops on the way you can wander around the boardwalks and visit the Interpretive Centre and learn all about the delicate rainforest ecosystem.
On arrival at Kuranda I’ll be there to meet you and show you around this ‘Village in the Rainforest’. Famous for its arts and crafts market. Kuranda has many other attractions including the popular Birdworld and Butterfly Sanctuary and boasts many great places for lunch.
After approximately 90 minutes in Kuranda it’s time for a trip to Cairns on one of the top rail journeys in Australia. The Kuranda Scenic Rail follows the curves of the Barron Gorge as it weaves its way down to Cairns. Built over 100 years ago to link the coast with the mining towns of the Tablelands., this railway was instrumental in the initial development of Cairns as the major city of Far North Queensland.
In Cairns I’ll show you around the city centre, before leaving you to enjoy any of such diverse attractions as the Nightmarkets, Cairns Marina, Casino, Art Gallery, a swim in our new lagoon or just enjoy a beverage in one of the many sidewalk cafes facing Trinity Bay. After 60 minutes in Cairns we return at sunset to Port Douglas and the end of our afternoon together.
Those guests not wishing to travel on Skyrail can travel with me and enjoy a little extra time in Kuranda and guests not wanting to travel on Kuranda Scenic Rail can spend extra time in Cairns.
Kuranda & Cairns Sightseeing Tour is a local family operated business.
