The final post from Kerri’s “week in Port Douglas through the eyes of a tourist”
Tropical North Queensland
We have had a wonderful 10 days in Port Douglas and have only given you a glimpse of what there is to see and do in Tropical Far North Queensland.
Those of you following our blog will know we start our day with a long walk along Four Mile Beach. This morning was no different; it doesn’t get better than this!!! The sea is warm, the views amazing, people are swimming, walking, jogging, and there is children building sand castles and others riding bikes. We are going to miss this!
Whilst we gave you an insight to the accommodation we stayed at, there are many other choices. There is an accommodation style to suit everyone; you only have to match your needs with what the property has to offer. If you are looking close to Macrossan Street and the beach, consider Hibiscus Spa and Resort, a beautiful property with a Balinese influence and an awarding Day Spa.
There is also Cayman Villas, Balboa any many more. If you are looking to be a little further away from the action consider The Mediterranean or for those you like a round of golf try Paradise Links. If you would like more information contact us at Latitude Travel, we will happily assist you.
Tours and things to do are plentiful too; the top three tours are
- 1. The Great Barrier Reef
- 2. The Daintree Rainforest
- 3.The Atherton Tablelands.
I have shared some of the tours with you, however there are many more. Coffee Works in Mareeba is fascinating, you will learn the history of coffee, taste test many varieties and can view the coffee museum, well worth a visit. There is the Chilligoe Caves, Flames of the Forest, The Lady Douglas (you will learn much about the history of Port Douglas), Fishing on the Inlet, Kuranda Sky & Rail and the list goes on. As well as the guided tours you now know from following my blog there is a lot to do for FREE.
You are spoilt for choices on dining in Port Douglas, I have talked about many i.e. Zinc, Finz, Nautilus and Salsa. Harrison’s and Bucci are highly recommended too.
I thought a 7 night stay in Port Douglas would be ample time to unwind, relax and enjoy what was on offer. I couldn’t have been more wrong. We could have easily stayed another week and I would recommend if you have the time you should consider a longer stay. Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and experienced so many great things there was so much more we wanted to see. The natural beauty of this region is a sight to be seen.
I would sincerely like to thank everyone who has helped make this trip to Port Douglas a truly memorable one. Also, thank you to everyone following our 10 days in Port Douglas; I hope you have enjoyed reading about our adventures and that we have inspired you to make Port Douglas your own adventure one day.
Till next time xx
